Smart consumers who know their gear needs can save a lot on kit for the coming season. There is also the opportunity to score products for both spring and fall. Check out a couple of our favorite deals for this President’s Day weekend below.
Deals to Save You Big This President’s Day
Just ahead of the rainy season, President’s day weekend is the ideal time to grab a reliable, weatherproof shell. Eddie Bauer’s Cloud Cap 3L rain jacket is currently available for $107 — that’s over $70 off.
Like most quality rain jackets, the Cloud Cap is lightweight, waterproof, versatile, and easy to vent, thanks to large armpit zippers. Rain jackets with similar features regularly sell for $200-plus.
This isn’t some ancient jacket model the brand wants to clear off the shelves. The Cloud Cap just dropped this season.
The Nike Pegasus running shoe has been around since the 1980s. In 2023, it’s still going strong. With timeless styling and multi-surface cushioning, the 39th generation of the Pegasus is well-equipped for short and long distances.
Nike’s Zoom Air Pods are mini shock absorption units — and the Pegasus 39 incorporates twice as many as the previous version of the shoe. Combined with Nike React Foam in the midsole, these pods give the shoes a springy-yet-stable feel.
From now until 2/20 at 9 pm PST, the Pegasus 39 is available for 20% off for new Nike Members with the code JOIN20. Existing members can use the code MEMBER25 for an even better discount. Men‘s and women‘s sizes are available.
Solo Stove Mesa XL: $45 Off
Launched earlier this month, the Mesa XL Fire Pit is the larger of the brand’s two “tabletop” pit options, yet it’s still markedly smaller than the backyard Ranger, Yukon, or Bonfire varieties. It’s an elegant backyard solution that requires less space and less maintenance than a traditional fire pit. Over President’s Day weekend, it’s available for $105 instead of the usual $150.
Like all of Solo Stove’s fire pits, the Mesa XL can burn wood fuel pellets or traditional firewood. It has a pellet capacity of about three times more than the standard Mesa, and will subsequently burn for about 15 minutes longer (about an hour). The Mexa XL will begin shipping on February 27.
Staying warm isn’t all about adding layers. Sweat management is essential for maintaining a comfortable temperature, and sometimes bulky outerwear isn’t the way to get there. This slim-fit jacket ($112 on sale) from The North Face is designed to insulate the torso area and ventilate through the breathable arms and side panels. For running, climbing, or biking in cold weather, this hybrid jacket is designed for sweat-free high-output activity.
The synthetic insulation in the core area is 100% recycled, and the face fabric is treated with a light DWR finish that helps light rain and snow roll off without saturating. During President’s Day Weekend, the jacket is 29% off at REI.
Patagonia Retro-X Jacket — Men’s: $90 Off
Retro Patagonia jackets of the ’70s and ’80s never went out of style. The shaggy fleece texture is stylish and practical — it’s “windproof” and odor-resistant. Two zippered hand pockets plus oversized zippered chest pockets can store wallets, snacks, ramen packets, golf balls, loose marshmallows — you name it.
Typically, this high-pile fleece throwback costs $230. As part of Backcountry’s massive President’s Day sale, it’s available for around $140.
