Filson Skinner Knife
Filson’s new knife shop includes this Skinner Fixed Blade ($125). Designed for hunting, the 7-inch blade has a 2 3/8-inch hollow-ground, drop-point blade made from 440M steel and a durable linen micarta handle. The blade comes with a branded Filson leather sheath. The blade’s steel is heat-treated and corrosion-resistant; made in the U.S.
Outdoor Vitals Ventus Active Hoodie
One of the lightest-weight hoodies on the market, the Ventus Active hoodie targets warmth, packability, and breathability for any and all active pursuits. The Ventus Hoodie ($180) is made with a 20-denier ripstop nylon shell, 3DeFX synthetic insulation, and a YKK zipper. It’s got laser-cut underarm venting, body-mapped insulation, reflective details, an insulated hood, and more. The Ventus weighs 7 ounces.
MAAP x Suplest Edge Road Pro Cycling Shoes
Five years ago, MAAP paired up with Swiss performance brand Suplest for the first time to collaborate on a road shoe. MAAP’s newest shoes are the “ultimate shoe” for high-velocity road racing. The MAAP Suplest Edge+ Road Pro ($549) has an anatomic wrap construction on the tongue, dual-Boa closure, thin microfiber uppers with a reflective MAAP graphic, and CARBON-SHIELD technology. The shoes come in two colors.
ForeverPen
No ink. Smaller than the pad of your finger. And it will last forever. That’s the concept behind the ForeverPen ($27). Launched on Kickstarter, the ForeverPen is made with a hard-wearing solid silver composite tip. And your choice of a titanium, copper, or naval-grade brass “handle,” if you can call it that. (This pen measures less than an inch.) Oh, and it can also write upside-down, in zero gravity, and underwater.
Roew Roll-Top Board Bag
Roew wants to solve moldy, damp, ill-equipped surfboard bags once and for all. Its new roll-top board bag (from $170) replaces zippers with a wide roll top for convenient access. And the bag even adjusts to multiple board sizes and fins (think surfboard, kiteboard, etc.). The bag is made with breathable Airmesh fabric made from recycled materials and has a reinforced nose panel. It will come in three sizes — short, medium, and long — to accommodate a variety of boards.
Cotopaxi Hielo Cooler 12
Level up just in time for picnic season with Cotopaxi’s newest repurposed bag. The Hielo 12 ($100) bag is actually a soft-sided cooler, with a welded waterproof and food-safe liner, insulated layer, roll-top closure, shoulder and side carry strap, side pocket, and more. It’s made with a burly nylon polyester shell. And just like the rest of Cotopaxi’s gear, it’s made with repurposed fabrics and comes in various color combos.
Switchblade Fishing Lures
Switchblade is changing the sport of fishing with its exchangeable fishing lures. The lures, which consist of chrome and brass bodies and operate on a neodymium magnet system, offer six plate and 12 lure color patterns for dozens of combinations. No more cutting and retying every lure. A set of lures will start at $25, and more plate patterns will be sold separately.
Amazfit T-Rex PRO Watch
This watch is heat-resistant up to 70 degrees C, and cold-resistant down to -40 degrees F, with freeze and shock resistance as well. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The Amazfit T-Rex Pro ($170) features a ridiculous number of sport modes (100 and counting), with GPS positioning, VO2 max levels, step count, aerobic and anaerobic data, and more. Weight of a T. rex: 6 tons. Weight of this watch: 60 g.
Matador x Volcom Surf Towel
Boulder brand Matador has partnered with Volcom for its latest collection. Their Packable Beach Towel ($35) offers an ultralight, packable towel solution for beachgoers and surf bros. The towel is made with a quick-drying nanofiber, but unlike Matador’s other packable towels, this one is beach-size and has a built-in zipper pocket to store keys, cash, or a phone.
rnnr Marathon Hat
Founded by a run-loving married couple in 2019, rnnr (pronounced “runner”) is a new company focused on making lightweight accessories. Its new Pacer Hats ($32) are adjustable, come in fun styles, and weigh under 3 ounces. The Pacer Hats come in fun patterns like “Skittles” and “Oreos,” and there are a few more new styles coming soon.
Filson x Birdwell Tac Short 2.0
Filson has partnered with Birdwell Beach Britches to produce these tac shorts. The SurfStretch Tac Shorts ($125) are tough and durable, built to handle anything from backpacking to fishing to playing in the sand. The shorts are made with Birdwell’s SurfStretch and SurfNyl nylon fabric, are quick-drying. They have interior and exterior pockets, plus a webbing waistband. And, they’re made in the U.S.
Mushroom Cup Coffee
Say hello to superfood coffee. Mushroom Cup Coffee ($1 per cup) comes in three varieties — coffee infused with chanterelle and lion’s mane for a brain boost, coffee infused with chanterelle and chaga for an antioxidant boost, and coffee infused with chanterelle and cordyceps to improve oxygen uptake and aerobic abilities. All three varieties are organic, vegan, gluten-free, and packed full of potassium, iron and, of course, caffeine.
Selk'Bag Rainforest Bag
This could be the strangest sleeping bag we’ve seen yet. The Selk’Bag Recycled Rainforest Bag ($129) has all the style of a jumpsuit with all the functionality of a sleeping bag (complete with insulated booties, pockets, and a hood). It’s even made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic: the fabric, insulation, and zippers are all recycled.
