It’s made for golf, but we couldn’t help but cover Nike’s latest shoe, which has a natural aesthetic rarely seen in the footwear world.
The Nike Air Max 1 Golf Grass shoe comes to limited market this month. It has a turf-like material for its upper that is reminiscent of a golf course.
Style takes priority over strict performance on this model, though the shoe is built on the long-trusted Air Max template. Nike’s iconic white swoosh on the side is only slightly shaded by the synthetic grass.
The company gives it a white midsole with the requisite and retro “air” window to reveal cushioning built in.
For now, the shoe is not for sale on Nike.com. But HYPEBEAST covered the release and quotes an MSRP of $140.
Sneaker sites like Stockx.com are selling the grass shoe for much higher. It’s currently grabbing more than $300 on the auction-based platform.
HYPEBEAST notes the shoe is an iteration of Nike designer Tinker Hatfield’s original Air Max build that “sees an all-green upper which sits atop a white midsole and gum rubber outsole.”
Grab a pair if you’re a golfer or a sneaker freak. This upper design is unlikely to come around again any time soon.
