The Ford Tremor is a big pickup. Based on the F-250 and F-350, this burly off-road package will haul massive loads, clear serious obstacles, and competes with the RAM Power Wagon.

For the first time in Ford’s history, an F-Series pickup will come from the factory with an electric winch. The WARN winch option will be available on 2020 Super Duty F-Series pickups with the Tremor off-road package, even the diesel!

A big key to this announcement by Ford is the availability of the winch option on both gas and diesel trucks. For years now, customers have been asking RAM to build a diesel Power Wagon, the only other factory winch-equipped truck on the market, to no avail.

But now, a proper diesel-powered, off-road-capable, heavy-duty pickup with winch from the factory is finally available in the new 2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor.

Ford Tremor: WARN Winch

Ford Performance Parts developed a custom 12,000-pound winch with WARN Industries. WARN has been the winch industry leader for decades, and also supplies a unique winch for the RAM Power Wagon.

“We developed this unique winch in cooperation with WARN specifically to meet Built Ford Tough truck standards for our new F-Series Super Duty,” said Ron Meredith, Ford truck vehicle personalization planning manager.

We reached out to Andy Lilienthal, WARN’s strategic communications manager. He confirmed that the winch offered by Ford Performance Parts is, indeed, “not an off-the-shelf unit” but a “custom-spec unit made in Clackamas, Oregon.” He also let us know that it’s a mid-mount winch with 70 feet of Spydura Pro synthetic rope. The custom fairlead is an “anodized billet-forged aluminum” part.

The new winch for the 2020 Super Duty comes with synthetic cable, wireless remote control, and a provision for a wired remote. The winch option will include a WARN hawse fairlead and Epic Hook. The winch hook even has a built-in bottle opener. A unique feature of this winch is the super-accessible free spool/engagement lever, which is usually on the winch body and can be tough to get to on some bumpers.

The winch will install cleanly behind the Super Duty’s steel front bumper. It’s a factory-orderable option or dealer-installed upgrade on any 2020 Super Duty with the Tremor Off-Road Package.

The Ford Performance Parts winch by WARN will be available in mid-2020 for $3,000. That’s a premium price for a winch! For reference, a WARN Zeon Platinum 12-S retails for $2,564, and a WARN M12-S for $2,644. Those prices don’t include installation, however. We assume and hope the $3,000 price tag on the Ford winch option includes the install.

2020 Ford Super Duty Tremor

The Tremor off-road package is available on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks for 2020. It’s a $3,900 upgrade package. The Tremor package is available on both the 7.3L gas V8- and 6.7L diesel V8-equipped trucks.

The Tremor package includes 35-inch AT tires — the largest-ever fit from the factory to a Super Duty. It also has an upgraded suspension, off-road running boards, a shorter front air dam, upgraded rear stabilizer bar, locking rear differential, limited-slip front differential, and a rock-crawl mode and Trail Control.

The 2020 Ford Super Duty trucks with the Tremor package are starting to ship to dealers now. But you’ll have to wait until the summer to get one equipped with the WARN winch option — or upfit your own.
