Can-Am Off-Road is making it easier to bring the kids along, with new four-stroke EFI machines for riders as young as 6.
The Can-Am Off-Road lineup is expanding this year to help bring the whole family on board for ATV riding. As part of its 2023 changes, the brand is launching three new models aimed at younger riders, giving them some of the easy-to-use features offered by full-size machines.
Of course, there are also some changes to the rest of the line, like more power for the Maverick UTV.
2023 Can-Am Renegade ATVs
Three new Renegade models offer performance and trail capability for youths as young as 6 years. All three have four-stroke engines with electronic fuel injection (EFO), making them cleaner for kids to ride and helping make them easier for kids to learn to maintain and keep going themselves.
Can-Am Renegade 70 EFI
Can-Am Off-Road’s starting point is the 2023 Renegade 70 EFI. It’s the one aimed at the youngest kids and sports a 70cc air-cooled four-stroke motor. Beginner riders get an easy-to-use CVT with forward, neutral, and reverse gears.
The Renegade 70 is chain-driven and rear-wheel drive, offering an electric start — with a kickstart backup — to make it easier for younger riders to fire up. And to get restarted if they’re out of walking distance from home.
A built-in throttle limiter lets you dial back the power while your young rider gets used to the machine. It’s a feature found on all three of these new Renegades.
A pair of drum brakes in the front and a single rear brake get it stopped. The Renegade 70 has wide bodywork to help keep the kids protected from trail debris while they’re learning what’s OK to hit and what to avoid. Removable footboard spacers let you adjust the ride to fit growing riders.
Can-Am Renegade 110 EFI
The Renegade 110 EFI has a slightly older target audience. This one is for riders 10 and up. It gives them more power, has a 2-inch longer wheelbase (41 inches), and has a 2-inch higher seat. But at 295 pounds dry, it’s only 5 pounds heavier than the Renegade 70, so it’s still easier for kids to maneuver.
Can-Am Renegade X
Sitting at the top of the new Renegade youth lineup is the Renegade X XC 110 EFI. It uses the same 112cc engine as the non-X model, but for a bit more money it looks a lot cooler and adds some useful features.
The X-Package graphics, and red and black paint, are just for looks. But kids are going to love the seat cover, sport-look exhaust, hand guards, and racing-look pegs. They might not like the aluminum bumper and nerf bars quite as much, but you’ll probably be glad they have them.
A double A-arm front and swingarm rear suspension — the other models have a single A-arm front — give you 5.5 inches of front travel and 6 inches in the rear. But in the X XC, they have gas-charged shocks with a piggyback reservoir for the front for more control on the trail.

Can-Am Renegade ATV Lineup
The new Renegade models are styled like their full-size siblings. That lineup starts with the 650 cc Renegade with Fox shocks and selectable four-wheel drive. The kids can get the same sporty looks with horsepower levels that will keep them interested but out of too much trouble. Meanwhile, you can blast along in something with much more pace.
A 2023 Renegade 70 EFI starts from $2,999, with the 110 from $3,599. The Renegade X XC 110 EFI starts from $4,099, and all prices are plus transport and preparation.
2023 Can-Am Off-Road Upgrades
Other Can-Am Off-Road changes for 2023 include giving the Maverick X3 DS Turbo more power. More boost from a new turbo means 135 horsepower, 15 more than last year.
Reversing the suspension A-arms on the Can-Am Defender let it fit bigger rubber, and Can-Am has added 30-inch tires as standard to take advantage. Plus the Outlander and Renegade full-size lineups have new styling and changes to improve rider comfort.
