True to form, Leatherman innovates a new tool, then gives it new life with splashy colors.
While Leatherman boasts dozens of models of multitools — from pliers-based, 18-function tools to simple pocket knives — it truly broke the mold last year when it unveiled the FREE collection. While the line looks like its everyday carry predecessors, Leatherman engineers completely reinvented how the tool works.
Today, the brand announced the K-Series and T-Series FREE multis would receive an aesthetic upgrade to complement their utility. Five colors will grace the trademark textured metal body — three launching this month and two more coming in September.
The first three hues pay homage to the brand’s Pacific Northwest roots, according to Mark Perusich, Leatherman’s senior industrial designer.
“The Pacific Northwest is stunningly beautiful and contains a variety of climates, whether it’s the lush, green forests, rugged mountains, or the blue of the ocean,” Perusich said. “Each color within the collection is inspired by the natural landscapes in our own backyard.”
Crimson, Evergreen, and Navy will debut as the new color schemes on the T4 and K2 knife-based multitools, beginning May 18. Then, in September, Leatherman will unveil Lunar and Arctic as well. The new-look tools arrive just in time for Father’s Day, so pick your — or his — favorite at Leatherman.com and select retailers.
