Since 2024 is the last model year of the Hemi V8, the Ram TRX is seeing its last days. Ram isn’t ready to give up all the work it put into its apex predator sport truck, however. Let me introduce you to the 2025 Ram RHO.
While Ram adamantly says that the RHO isn’t the replacement for the TRX — which we believe and will explain — the new truck is the new performance off-road “sport” truck leader in its lineup. It is also essentially the same machine, just with a different fuel-consuming lump under the hood.
“The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is the latest result of a relentless pursuit to engineer, design and deliver a truck that charges into the segment head down and horn up,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “All that we’ve learned from developing every truck in Ram’s legendary lineup has led us to the most capable light-duty pick-up truck offering the best value with more horsepower per dollar than any other off-road truck.”
New Hurricane High-Output Motor

Under the hood of the 2025 Ram RHO is the new Hurricane 3.0L high-output straight-six turbo engine. An impressive piece of hardware. It is backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, with paddle-shifting capability.
This new motor offers up very healthy power numbers. On tap is 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque.
You can expect equally impressive performance numbers from the 2025 Ram RHO with a Hurricane engine under the hood. From a standstill, the big truck can hit 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and 100 mph in just 11.7. The quarter-mile is dispensed in just 13.1 seconds at 105 mph. And, the 2025 RHO can hit a top speed of 118 mph — which is likely limited due to the aggressive off-road tires.
Of course, the reason Ram replaced the big Hemi V8 with this lighter — by 150 pounds — I6 turbo engine is for better fuel economy and fewer emissions. We don’t know how much better yet, however. EPA ratings are yet to be published.
