The America’s State Parks organization has announced its fourth-annual park photo contest. Here’s how to enter.
Take great photos, win cool prizes! The 2-month contest hosted by the National Association of State Park Directors (NASPD) and the greater America’s State Parks organization aims to unite park visitors through photography in the outdoors.
2020 Photo Contest Categories
With fall right around the corner, now is a great time to visit a park, camera in hand! While you’re there, consider shooting images for the contest in these categories:
- Family and Friends
- Scenic and Seasons
Read the full submission rules and enter the contest here. The contest is accepting photo submissions now through October 31, 2020.
Submissions are judged by a panel on creativity, composition, quality, and whether or not the photo reflects the spirit and opportunities of America’s state parks. (Note: This contest is only open to U.S. residents.)
At the end of the contest, the organization will announce one grand prize winner and five category contest winners. Gear prizes include a Canon DSLR camera, Igloo coolers, an REI gift card, a Klymit backpack, and more.
America’s State Parks
“America’s state parks have been welcoming people across the country in record numbers to recreate responsibly during these uncertain times. Our parks are a safe local getaway to the daily stresses and provide diverse landscapes for endless recreational activities,” said Lewis Ledford, executive director at NASPD.
“NASPD is pleased to [continue] our annual photo contest to share the love for our parks.”
The mission of the NASPD is to promote the state park systems of America for their own significance, as well as for their important contributions to the nation’s environment, heritage, health, and economy. The organization also keeps a pretty spiffy database of all U.S. state parks to help you find the park nearest you.
