EarthRoamer XV-HD: Bigger, Badder Off-Road Camper

EarthRoamer released a sneak peek of its XV-HD. The bigger, roomier version of the ultra-high-end camper hits the market in 2016.

Earlier this year, we visited the company’s Colorado headquarters and got a few details about the XV-HD while on a factory tour with founder Bill Swails.

The EarthRoamer XV-HD will be “much larger,” Swails said, with “significantly more room for bigger families.”

The XV-HD will be built on either the Ford F-650 or F-750 chassis. (The current model, the XV-LT, is build on the Ford F-550 chassis.)

The new chassis will allow EarthRoamer to carry upwards of 26,000 pounds, versus 19,500 pounds on the F-550. The XV-LT starts at about $280,000, with options bumping the price of many builds to well over $400,000.

The XV-HD will be even more costly, but with a healthy waiting list and high demand, we’re guessing EarthRoamer will be filling orders as fast as they can build these burly, American-made beasts.

The XV-HD was just debuted at the Overland Expo, and details are still few and far between.
