Kenton Athletics — Soap for the Outdoors Crowd

I don’t usually review soap, but Kenton Athletics, a Providence, Rhode Island, company sent me a couple bottles of its 2-in-1 Body & Hair Wash to test, a blend that goes for $7.49 a bottle and is marketed toward two underserved (and maybe much in need) demographics: men and outdoorsy types.

The company (www.kentonathletics.com) promises nothing miraculous. But the soap, which comes in three “flavors,” ships in a travel-friendly bottle and is made with natural ingredients like lemon, grapefruit, lime, rosemary, sage, cypress, and lavender.

As the name portends (2-in-1 Body & Hair Wash), you can wash your hair and body with it. No need to bring along an extra bottle of shampoo. (Not like I would anyway!)

The soap is made without artificial thickeners, colorants, or moisturizers. Ingredients include water, decyl glucoside (a cleanser derived from sugar); sodium coco-sulfate (high-foaming cleanser derived from coconut oil); vegetable glycerin; aloe vera gel; and essential oil blends from the aforementioned likes of lemon, grapefruit, lime, orange, tea tree, scotch pine, Douglas fir, eastern hemlock, balsam fir, and so on.

It smells good. It cleans. It passed the test here as an alternative to the old bar of Ivory.
