In honor of World Ocean Day in June, Red Paddle Co. is hosting a World Waterways design challenge that boasts some awesome winnings.
Looking for a place to channel your creative energy? Like to paddle? Consider submitting a sketch in Red Paddle Co.’s World Waterways Design Challenge, and you could win. And when we say win, we mean win big. Like, win-a-paddleboard big.
Red Paddle Co. has had a few limited edition designs in the past, but nothing like this.
“We are really excited to launch this limited design competition,” said Red’s head of marketing, Charlie Green. “Our talented design team usually have the fun job of deciding the look and feel of our 10’6″ Ride board, but we can’t wait to see what visions our creative community have for [it].”
How to Enter, How to Win
The Design Challenge rules are fairly simple. You must be over 18, you can’t submit a design with more than four colors (due to paddleboard manufacturing), and it can’t be a design publicly submitted elsewhere.
Designers will be asked to “draw attention to the importance of preserving the oceans, coastlines, rivers, lakes, marine life and ecosystems across the globe,” Red Paddle Co. added.
Submissions must be in by June 1, 2021, and winners will be announced on June 17. There’s a second, third, and fourth place, too. Not interested in designing or winning a paddleboard? You can still take part by voting on the submitted designs.
World Waterways Challenge: Charity Partner
Red Paddle Co. is partnering with Love the Oceans marine charity for the design challenge. Love the Oceans, founded by Francesca Trotman, is working to establish protected marine life areas near its base of Jangamo Bay, Mozambique.
Love the Oceans’ teams work in research, education, and conservation — and they actually use paddleboards to transport equipment in their line of work!
Once the winning board has been printed, Red Paddle Co. will be sending the organization four boards to help continue their conservation work up, down, and around the Mozambique coastline.
The final limited-edition board will be available in Spring 2022.
