Each year SGB (Sporting Goods Business) Magazine’s “40 Under 40” award gives a nod to 40 professionals who are said to be “the best and the brightest of the next generation of leaders” in the outdoor and sporting goods industry. This year, the publication honored GearJunkie editor Stephen Regenold, who founded GearJunkie in 2002.

The full “40 Under 40” list is online now as well as in print within SGB Magazine’s July issue. Next week, on August 3, Regenold and the 39 other “honorees” will be awarded at an event in Salt Lake City.

According to the SGB profile, Stephen Regenold is the founder and editor-in-chief of GearJunkie.com, a top publication for outdoor news and gear reviews. Regenold, a journalist and former writer for the New York Times, founded “The Gear Junkie” in 2002 as a nationally syndicated newspaper column. The website, GearJunkie.com, launched in 2006, and today it sees hundreds of thousands of pageviews each month. Regenold resides in Minneapolis with his wife and three children.

Regenold, age 34, said he is psyched to be included. “It’s been a great ride so far!” he said. “Here’s to the next 10 years of GearJunkie!”
