Splitboarder Goes Steep and Steeper in ‘The White Giant’

The White Giant’ is aptly named. Take Jiehkkevárri, the highest and possibly remotest mountain in Norway’s Lyngen Alps at 6,017 feet. Then work your way to its most massive and intimidating aspect: the imposing South Face.

Finding a line down it is Krister Kopala’s undertaking in this informative and gnarly Rab Equipment joint. Watch Kopala negotiate the hugely complicated and dangerous obstacle in a clip that involves everything from snowboarding with ice axes in hand to carving down scary-steep chutes.
