Subaru of America has announced a recall on select lot numbers of 2021 Subaru Imprezas.

Today, Subaru announced a recall on a small number of 2021 year Subaru Imprezas. The issue only affects 802 vehicles (out of nearly 20,000 Imprezas made in 2021), Subaru reported.

“The affected vehicles may be equipped with a left front lower control arm with an improper weld near a connection joint between the control arm and the crossmember,” it wrote in the recall.

“An improper weld may lead to a partial separation of the lower control arm,” Subaru continued. “If this happens, the tire could contact the wheel well, resulting in a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.”

So far, no one has reported accidents to Subaru in conjunction with this issue.

Check Your Impreza: If Affected, Don’t Drive

Subaru will contact 2021 Impreza vehicle owners via mail about the recall. However, it’s a good idea to check your vehicle’s status right away on Subaru’s Recall page. Or, call Subaru’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

For all of the potentially affected vehicles, Subaru retailers will conduct an inspection of the left front lower control arm. If the control arm contains a specific lot number, Subaru will replace the part free of charge.

“Until the inspection is completed, customers are instructed not to drive the vehicle,” Subaru wrote.
