A new climbing wall built high inside a skyscraper is not for the faint of heart. Behind the holds is clear glass and a soaring view high above London.
London’s first “climbing window” will sit 400 feet above the ground. Entrants will be able to climb routes fixed on clear glass planes overlooking the city and expansive drop.
Clearly, this isn’t a great option for those afraid of heights! But for climbers looking to work off some stress after a hard day’s work, the indoor wall with towering views could be a blast.
But that’s just the tip of this remarkable new building. It also has 1,700 bike-parking spaces, an innovation hub, gym, and fresh food market.
Modern Development
Convenience for the active lifestyle is center stage at the newly announced 22 Bishopsgate development in downtown London. Bike to the office, enjoy modern collaborative, productive work spaces, climb after work, and pick up groceries for the week—all in the same building.
Businesses large and small will fill up the space, with room for collaborators and start-ups. In total, 12,000 employees will reside in the building’s 1.275-million square feet and 62 stories.
AXA IM Real Assets and Lipton Rogers Developments will develop the concept, set for 2019.
Take A Tour: TwentyTwo London
Walk through the doors of TwentyTwo and notice its natural light. Floor-to-ceiling 3-meter low-iron glass windows let in 20-percent more light than ordinary windows.
Traverse floor to floor with the TwentyTwo app, a guide to the building and services available. While office space is a majority of the floors, wellness and entertainment take up five floors.
‘The Retreat’
On floor 41, The Retreat offers several health services, including a spa, yoga and pilates studios, and a meditation area.
‘The Gym’
On floor 25, the gym offers personal and group training classes, a juice bar, and of course, the climbing window.
The Bikes
Twentytwo will house London’s largest bicycle parking. It also offers Brompton bicycles for hire, bike maintenance, and showers and lockers.

It’s slated for a summer 2019 construction date, and we’re excited at the push for wellness and physical activity with modern office developments.
