Looking forward to hiking, running, and getting outside this spring? Not that you need an incentive to enjoy the warming weather, but Oboz has one anyway: its inaugural “Fast Trail Challenge.” Oboz is encouraging people to get outside and log as many hikes as they can in the first 10 days of May.
Here’s how it works.
The Oboz Fast Trail Challenge runs May 1-10, 2023. Participants can complete as many hikes as they wish, as long as each hike exceeds 1 mile. For each hike recorded, Oboz will plant one tree through its Trees for the Future program. The program plants trees in a specific region (the Tabora Forest Garden Project in Tanzania), so you know where the trees are going. Since Oboz sold its first pair of shoes, Trees for the Future has planted over 5 million trees.
For further bragging rights and more good stewardship, Oboz said it will plant up to four bonus trees on behalf of any participant who completes more than 10 hikes.
Oboz Fast Trail Challenge: How to Participate
It’s as simple as registering for the Oboz Challenge online, anytime between now and May 1, 2023. Participants can be located anywhere.
The challenge is free to register and participate in — the only requirement is a GPS tracker (smartwatch, fitness tracker app, Strava, etc.) that can record your hikes. Whatever GPS tracking method you are using, you can link directly to your account, so there’s no hassle of logging anything twice.
And as if a fun hike challenge that does good by planting trees isn’t enough, Oboz is sweetening the deal — with swag, of course! Each hike will enter challengers into daily giveaways for prizes, including Oboz hiking shoes, Oboz insoles, sandals, trekking poles, daypacks, sunglasses, water bottles, an AllTrails Pro membership, and more.
Finally, Oboz will be hosting “after-parties” in celebration of the completion of the Fast Trail Challenge to include food, beverages, outdoor films, and giveaways at locations around the country. Post-hike after-party locations were not disclosed as of this writing.
