For the first time, Total Archery Challenge (TAC) is coming to Colorado’s Purgatory Resort this summer from July 11 to 13. Registration for the renowned 3D archery experience opened on April 2. Event organizers are encouraging people to sign up early, as the events sell out quickly.
The multiday competition will include a vendor village, live music, food and drinks, activities for the whole family, and, of course, three days of archery, over 100 3D targets, multiple courses, and all the natural obstacles and elevation changes you can shake a bow at. Event organizers are expecting over 4,000 archers and spectators at the Purgatory TAC. They noted that they are excited to host the only TAC event in Colorado.
“This is a major win not only for Purgatory but for the entire Durango area,” Matt Ericksen, Marketing Director of Purgatory Resort, said in a press release. “Total Archery Challenge has built a loyal following nationwide, and hosting it for the first time at our resort speaks to the caliber of terrain and community we have here. We’re proud to welcome so many visitors to experience our mountain.”
Total Archery Challenge Comes to Purgatory

Like all TAC events, the one in Purgatory will feature different courses for different skill levels. There will be over 100 3D targets to challenge participants’ marksmanship with different distances, angles, and natural obstacles.
Participants must select Noch Times (i.e., “tee times”) when they start to keep groups spread out. Select your starting window for each day you plan to participate and select the course you want to try. There is a max of six shooters per group, and once Noch Times sell out, the event is sold out.
