In 1976, Dave and Arline Parker set to work in a Torrance, Calif., garage to make 100% leak-proof gear for their SCUBA adventures. More than 40 years later, Pelican employs nearly 1,300 people around the globe to make a wide array of element-proof cases.

And it’s not just divers anymore; campers, heli-rescue personnel, and the U.S. military are some of its customers.
