It’s almost Adventure Bike season up here in the Far North!

I’ve been investigating the “trend” of fat-tire adventure bikes this week, which are bikes with 3.5-inch+ tires made for snow, sand, ice, muck and mud.

The Pugsley from Surly Bikes, a model that debuted in July 2005, is bigger and beefier than any mass-produced model in history. (See my review here.) But while Surly (www.surlybikes.com) gets a lot of credit for the Pugs, independent bike builders have sold fat-tire iterations since the late ‘90s.
