And the winners are. . . Outside magazine this week announced its twice annual “Gear of the Year” award recipients. The latest edition of the magazine, the Outside Spring/Summer Buyer’s Guide, includes 14 top picks in categories ranging from mountain biking to backpacking. Says a press release on the magazine’s testing process: “All told, our testers and editors spent several months in the field testing this year’s top sleeping bags, tents, shells, trail shoes, and packs in more than a dozen states.”
