Does eight people on a chairlift with all their gear — skis, poles, snowboards — sound crowded? Don’t worry, it’ll be bubble-wrapped comfort.
Big Sky Resort is about to bring North America its first eight-person chairlift. Talk about chewing up the lift line!
Big Sky Ramcharger 8
The Ramcharger 8 lift will whisk passengers uphill in comfort. It has “ergonomically designed, extra-wide, heated seats” and “Big Sky blue” bubbles, Big Sky said in a press release. It will serve skiers on Andesite Mountain.
Big Sky assured the public that the new lift, a Doppelmayr eight-person, high-speed chairlift, will be more resistant to wind than the average chairlift. And it has plenty of room and a bubble windscreen to keep passengers warm.
This new lift should reduce lift lines by 30 percent, Big Sky said.
“The Biggest Skiing in America is getting bigger and better, again,” said Taylor Middleton, president and general manager of Big Sky Resort.
Big Sky Improvements
Beyond the new lift, the resort plans several other upgrades for the near future.
For example, it plans to add an extended, raised deck with a view of Lone Peak and the Village’s Southwest Plaza — an “ideal meeting spot for après.” There’s also a new ski lodge in the works where up to 700 people at a time will be able to enjoy new “artisan” food options.
