Simply put, skiing Mt. Columbia is a beast of an objective. The tallest mountain in Alberta, Canada, at 12,294 feet is also — like most beautiful destinations in Canada — in the middle of nowhere.

Like, really: if you want to get to it in winter, your buy-in is a 26-mile, one-way cross-country ski trip.

However, Cody Townsend remains intent on skiing The Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America, and so he leans into the challenge here. Watch him and his trusty companion Taylor Sullivan negotiate the vast trek, which Townsend actually describes as being “uphill both ways.”

If you can’t believe that, believe this: this season’s final The FIFTY episode is a doozy.
