A lot of us absorb a few bumps and bruises the first time we try something new. Not everything goes well, or even right — life happens, as one says.

You wouldn’t know it to watch the production that serves as longtime pro skier Juliette Willmann’s “first movie.”

In it, you’ll learn about her career, from her roots in Southern France, through her years on the alpine race circuit, and into the present day. The filmmaking is rock-solid, and, over time, that’s what Willmann’s skiing became too. But that doesn’t mean she hasn’t taken her lumps along the way. Scorpions on the slopes? That’s Willmann taking a gnarly digger while learning a new trick.

Every single time, she’s gotten back up and tried again. “I never give up,” she stated confidently, with a wry smile.

The aptly titled Making the Most of It is a well-wrought portrait of a lifelong skier.
