It’s rare that something as basic as a suitcase is revolutionized. But the Trunkster takes the standard suitcase back to the drawing board and comes out with some interesting new thinking around a product category that rarely sees innovation.
It has zipper-less entry for fast access, a battery for USB charging of your devices, a built-in scale, and even a GPS. Yeah, this isn’t your grandpa’s suitcase.
The Trunkster has captured attention on Kickstarter, where it’s already raised more than $1 million. See below for the standout feature set.
Zipperless — Trunkster uses a “sliding door” closure that lets you access belongings in one motion. The door is durable and waterproof, made of a rigid exterior and corrugated, malleable interior.
Removable Battery + USB Charger — One version of the Trunkster lets you charge your phone (up to 9 times) while it’s stowed in the case. Trunkster’s power bank is removable and can be used independently of the suitcase to charge devices anywhere you go.
Built-In Scale — Wonder if your bag is over weight? Just pick it up! No need to stand on your bathroom scale while holding your luggage. The built-in digital scale works by simply lifting the bag.
GPS — Trunkster can be tracked from any connected device, and it is activated with the push of a button. This feature is available as an upgrade, sold separately ($40). Trunkster relies on the same technology utilized by Apple’s “Find My Mac.”
