Want to see what goes wrong when two very funny friends hike across Canyonlands National Park in the middle of July? Thought so.

Columbia provided some hot-weather apparel and accessories to writer-adventurers Lauren Steele and Paddy O’Connell and sent them off along the sun-torched White Rim Trail.

A film crew got the coveted position of watching the hilarity unfold as two outdoor enthusiasts put their gear, wills, and senses of humor to the test. It’s a desert romp that might be the best bad idea of the year.

“Canyonlands National Park is incredibly hot in the middle of July,” said Steele. “But it’s empty. It’s a unique and special experience to move through such an iconic place — and have it all to yourself.”
