I live in Mammoth, Calif., so I know that in addition to a requisite quiver of snowboards and/or skis, mountain-town living is better with a collection of cold-weather kicks. Sorels are great for deep snow days. Salomon snow mocs are ideal for those times when you need plenty of traction. IPATH’s soon-to-be-released Kenny Reed All Weather model fits the bill for cold days when you want both warmth and style.
I wore the similar Reed Shearling ’08 shoes for a good part of last winter. They were toasty, subdued and stylish. With a faux-shearling lining, the IPATH’s were warm enough for tromping around the town of Mammoth Lakes, waiting outside for the trolley in cold nighttime temps, or even hopping on my fixed-gear with flat pedals for a quick errand.
A limited edition of the new All Weather model will be available starting October 14 from online dealer CCS.com. Dubbed the “Kenny Reed All Weather,” it will be similar to the current Reed pro-model that includes triple stitching in high-wear areas and a grippy vulcanized outsole.
The All Weather model will also include a faux wool lining and a water-resistant upper to keep it dry after walking through snow or stepping in a puddle. Like all IPATH shoes, the tongue of each sneaker features a hidden stash pocket. Do with it what you will. (www.ipath.com)
