Double Guinness Book World Record Holder Tom Oehler has taken steep trails to a whole new meaning.

Surprisingly, Tom Oehler doesn’t hold world records for mountain biking, at least not in the traditional sense. He holds records for high jump and 400m hurdles, both on a bike.

For this film — which Red Bull has dubbed a “visually pleasing project” — the 37-year-old Austrian heads to Italy’s Dolomites mountain range. Presumably, he’s seeking out some of the most challenging trails Oehler and his bike have ever seen.

If you like scary, loose, and exposed, these trails are it. Over 10,000 feet up, on skinny alpine ledges, Oehler shows no fear.

“With those exposed trails where I’m riding in the wall on a half meter of trail, it’s quite a mind game. I’d walked the trails before we went there to shoot, and afterward I had the section in my mind for a few weeks,” Oehler said in a post-film interview.

“The first thing I did when I got up there was put my helmet on and get it done for myself so I knew it was doable,” Oehler said. “Then we did everything again for the video.” Watch more clips from Oehler’s Dolomite ride here.

Directed by Lukas Pilz and Matthias Reich, produced by Red Bull; filmed in 2021.
