Fat bikes become a real summer option – At home in Minnesota we used to call our bikes with fat tires “snow bikes.” The fatbike/snowbike connection officially dies with Borealis’ introduction of its Echo trail model, a bike with fat tires that excels on dirt trails. The bike is light, fast and fun — more so than I expected.

The Borealis Echo is a huge improvement over the Yampa on dirt

Although I loved the Yampa, our review on it was not entirely positive regarding the front end of the bike. The Echo fixes that. The Bluto front suspension fork tracks really well and inspires confidence. It’s brilliant fun. Combined with the short rear triangle and light Carbondale wheels, smashing singletrack at Sea Otter was a blast. I could not help but stay out past the 10 mile mark during what was supposed to be a short test ride. Borealis nailed it with this bike. The Echo is rolling out to dealers now.
