Road bikes with rear suspension are becoming a reality – Softening up the rear end of road bikes continues to be a growing trend. Lapierre’s Pulsium is not the first endurance bike (read comfort bike for racers) to be ridden by a pro team, but it is perhaps the most radical of this new breed. The Pulsium debuted at the Paris Roubaix last weekend under the FDJ squad with an elastomer ring in the top tube that allows for up to 3.5mm of flex.

I liked the brand’s previous endurance bike, the Sensium, and this new design promises even more grip and stability on rough roads, resulting in less physical stress for the rider. The Pulsium will be available later this summer.
