Duck boats that transition from land to water and back have been around for decades. But we’ve yet to see a quad that can drive into a lake, zip across it like a personal watercraft, and then continue on the other side.
The Quadski by Gibbs Sports Amphibians does just that, although I’m not entirely sure why you’d want to drive an ATV into a lake short of maybe, maybe really remote expeditions.
Powered by a 4 cylinder BMW Motorrad 1300cc engine, the Quadski is a rear-wheel drive ATV that really covers ALL the terrain.
Once in the water, the wheels flip up and the vessel moves along with propulsion from a Gibbs jet drive similar to most personal watercrafts, but with wheels sticking up in the air.
The company claims top speeds of 45 mph on both land and water.
Thanks to the dual design the Quadski isn’t light, weighing in at a hefty 1,333 lbs. It runs on 98 RON Premium plus unleaded, so plan to pull out your checkbook when you get to the pump.
Speaking of checkbook — the base price is about $40,000. Ouch!
At that price, you could buy two Polaris Sportman 850 ATVs AND two Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra LX personal watercrafts.
But if you need to power across a field and into a lake, this might be your best (and only) option.
