Dane Jackson’s cinematic approach remains spartan — and maybe that’s a good thing.

There’s no poetic narration, thrilling music, or even much explanation in Jackson’s YouTube edits. Audio comes from the sound of the roaring river, and video from the single POV perspective from his head camera.

But if you’re looking for a vicarious experience from a kayaking edit, that’s exactly what you get from Jackson. In this short run on the South Fork of northern California’s Yuba River, Jackson makes tempestuous rapids look like a walk in the park.

For him, it probably is.
