A survival knife by a bike-maker? You heard right.
Brooklyn-based Horse Cycles, which makes custom mountain and road bikes (as well as USA-made outdoors gear), is now offering a 1095 carbon steel survival blade.
Handmade at the Horse Cycles workshop in New York, the blade of the HORSE Carbon Steel Camping Knife is on the thin side at 3/32″. Likely not a great choice for heavy chopping. But with a full tang, it should slice beautifully and be reasonably durable.
It has a utilitarian Scandi grind the length of the cutting edge and a tough G10 handle that comes in a unique “sea glass” green color.
You can buy a leather sheath hand-stamped and made by leathersmith Will Lisak from ETWAS bags.
The sheaths are made of thick-cut, vegetable-tanned leather and stamped with the Horse logo.
