Tincup ‘Adventure Pack’ Whiskey Canteen

Tincup 'Adventure Pack' Whiskey Canteen

I recently received one of the Tincup Adventure Pack stainless bottles ($31) in the mail, and I can attest that it is both packable and durable. Glass bottles are bad news at the campsite. Inevitably, an inebriated fellow will drop and shatter the bottle while waxing poetic about the ethics of e-bikes. Or, an après-ski overstoker will toss a loose backpack into the bed of the truck, not knowing it’s carrying a breakable container. This steel canteen prevents catastrophes before they happen.

Whiskey goes well with adventure. Glass does not. Oh yeah, the Adventure Pack comes prefilled with 375 mL of the good stuff.

Frost River Boundary Waters Canoe Pack

Frost River Boundary Waters Canoe Pack

Duluth hometown heroes Trampled by Turtles and Frost River gear company team up to drop the most Minnesota product of all time. The new Sportman’s Pack ($340) is built for canoeing, camping, and hunting — the triathlon of North Woods activities.

With 38 L of storage and a lifetime guarantee, this backpack is designed to be used on a daily basis and last for multiple generations. The combination of hunter orange and field tan gives the pack a vintage look, and the assorted pockets provide storage for your camping staples — map, binoculars, fishing license, etc.

The pack adds overnight functionality with the addition of Frost River’s leather bedroll straps ($15 each). A portion of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to Sportsmen for the Boundary Waters‘ environmental conservation initiatives.

Canada Goose Glacier Trail Sneaker

Canada Goose Glacier Trail Sneaker

Canada Goose is perhaps best known for identifying the highest dollar figure that people are willing to spend on a parka. While its prices are undoubtedly exclusionary, Canada Goose products do tend to live up to their reputation for warmth and durability.

Now, the luxury apparel company drops its first-ever sneaker collection. The headline style is the Glacier Trail Sneaker ($450), an athleisure shoe that’s apparently equipped to stroll right off the runway and onto the trailhead.

With its HDry waterproof membrane and flared outsole, the Glacier Trail should do just fine when the pavement ends. It comes in eye-catching sundial orange and stark white color options. Men’s and women’s sizes are available.

KEEN Zionic Hiking Shoes

KEEN Zionic Hiking Shoes

In recent seasons, KEEN has seriously modernized its footwear line. The brand was once known for its strappy rubber-toed sandals. Now, it’s peddling a full lineup of flashy and attractive trail shoes.

The new Zionic hiking shoe ($145) sports some unique lines, but it also fits the mold of the lightweight activewear that dominates trails near Denver and L.A. According to the brand, the Zionic’s profile is far more streamlined than anything it has made in the past — though it keeps the wide and roomy toebox that KEEN is known for.

In addition to the pictured shoe, the Zionic comes in waterproof and also high-top boot configurations. Men’s and women’s sizes are available.

Fenix LR40R V2.0 Search and Rescue Flashlight

Fenix LR40R V2.0 Search and Rescue Flashlight

Built to the demanding specifications of search and rescue applications, the Fenix LR40R V2.0 ($300) is an ultra-bright handheld floodlight that can cast a beam up to almost 1,000 yards. We’ve tested flashlights for over a decade, and Fenix’s consistently takes the cake in the best overall category. Simply put, no brand makes a better light.

The LR40R shines bright in spotlight and floodlight mode — or both at the same time. It fully charges in under 4 hours via USB-C, and it runs for up to 177 hours. As for durability, the entire case is made from rugged anodized aluminum. You won’t find a single component made from plastic.

VivoBarefoot x John John Florence Aquatic Shoes

Vivobarefoot x John John Florence Aquatic Shoes

John John Florence is among the winningest pipe surfers in American history. At age 13, Florence competed alongside adult pros in the Vans Triple Crown. He weighed just 85 pounds at the time. Now, in collaboration with amphibious footwear stalwart VivoBarefoot, Florence lends his name to a series of minimalist shoes.

Dubbed the “Human Nature” line, these shoes aim to inspire the masses to “pursue their natural potential.” Every model in the line aims to promote healthy movement and natural foot function. The pictured Ultra III ($130) utilizes Vivo’s signature porous honeycomb upper. Built from 90% EVA, the Ultra won’t absorb water, so it’s perfect for aquatic adventures or wandering along the shore.

Vaonis Hestia Smartphone Telescope Converter

Vaonis Hestia Smartphone Telescope Converter

Vaonis is a French optics company known for outfitting hobbyist astronomers with cutting-edge portable telescopes. The brand’s latest innovation is the Hestia. It’s a book-sized accessory that turns a modern smartphone into a telescope.

Using a 30mm lens and a series of prisms, the Hestia collects and focuses light directly into the camera sensor of a smartphone. The resulting image can be viewed via Vaonis’s smartphone app. According to the brand, users will be able to magnify the night sky up to 25 times the capability of an unassisted smartphone. If that’s the case, the Hestia will be able to show the texture of the moon’s surface craters in sharp detail.

Another solar eclipse is sweeping across the United States in 2024. A device like the Hestia could certainly aid in the challenge of capturing the event. It’s available for preorder now on Kickstarter.

BlaqPaks ‘Stash Box’ Fanny

BlaqPaks 'Stash Box' Fanny

A beefier fanny pack option comes to market this summer from Portland, Ore.-based BlaqPaks. With a stout plastic case inside its nylon pocket, the Stash Box ($64) provides a waterproof and crushproof place to store a phone, camera, SD cards, or anything else you need to protect.

The fanny pack is made in the USA. It has a main compartment and two slim side pockets. The case inside measures 6 x 3.4 x 1.2 inches. A lightweight foam liner is built in to further protect your goods.

Surf Grass Camping Mat

Surf Grass Camping Mat

Unroll a Surf Grass Mat ($60) to create a better entrance outside your tent. We tested the synthetic grass mats while camping this summer and were happy with the cushy, supportive feel underfoot. They give you a place to sit down above the dirt and take off your shoes before crawling into a tent.

The company has several new sizes of its namesake product this summer. It is making an effort to gain visibility within the outdoor market after its launch in the surf industry a few years ago. The pads mimic the look and feel of real grass and have a nonslip backing and durable construction.

‘Total Blackout’ Travel Sleep Mask

'Total Blackout' Travel Sleep Mask

Touting “total blackout” with eight layers of silk and stuffing, the Dream Recovery 3D Performance Sleep Mask ($60) is a next-level sleep aid for airplanes or use at home. We tested it and can confirm the mask is a step above your average eyeshade.

The Dream Recovery’s silk keeps the skin cool. A thick, padded design provides zero contact with your eyes. For anyone concerned with optimal sleep, the 3D Performance Sleep Mask could be worth the upgrade for a better night’s rest.

Thomas Rhett x Tecovas Cowboy Boots

Grammy-nominated country singer Thomas Rhett Akins is known for the chart-topping singles “Country Again,” “Beer Can’t Fix,” and “Look What God Gave Her.” With track titles like those, you already know what kind of shoes Rhett wears. Cowboy boots, baby.

Now, in collaboration with handmade footwear specialists Tecova, Rhett launches a limited edition collection of six dapper boot styles. The pictured Akins ($495) is the flagship of the group, and its ornate ostrich leather upper is sure to turn some stetsons. It’s made with a full heel-to-heel Goodyear welt.
