Video: Utah Desert serves as Salomon ‘R&D Lab’

What if your company’s R&D lab was the great outdoors, including rocky trails and slickrock domes in a place like Utah? That’s the reality for a brand like Salomon, which works with top trail runners in “real world” settings during the testing and refining stages of its product development.

In this video, the brand gives a fun peek inside the “lab” that was the Utah desert wilderness during an R&D session this spring. Look close and you’ll see product not yet to market as well as a few tricks (including a foot-scanning device) Salomon employs to keep its footwear and running gear evolving for the game. —Stephen Regenold
