‘Sole’ Mates: Teva and Stance Unite, Release Faux Pas Collab

Once unthinkable, the practice of wearing socks with sandals now looks like it’s permanently arrived. You can be as crazy as Kanye or as cool as Tyler the Creator and do it either way (Google it).

Sandal giant Teva teamed up with performance softgoods upstart Stance to confirm the affinity with a “sole” bond. The brands just dropped their limited-edition Ultimate Sole Mates collection, a pairing of Teva’s Hurricane XLT2 and Stance’s high-ankle-length socks.

Teva x Stance Ultimate Sole Mates Deets

Teva has leaned into the collab scene recently, releasing a colorful collection with Polaroid earlier this year and partnering with TerraCycle for a shoe recycling program.

Its newest collab is a bohemian-adjacent lifestyle statement for sock-and-sandal types with style and grace.

The collection’s anchor is the Teva Hurricane XT2 Stance. The all-around sandal gets recycled remnant yarns that create an “incredible” red, green, and blue pattern on its cream base.

In a touch of comical cross-branding with Stance, it also adds “L” and “R” indicators at the toe of the left and right sandal, respectively. An EVA midsole makes it cushy, and Teva’s proprietary Durabrasion rubber aims for versatile traction.

The complementary socks from Stance share the sandals’ R/B/G and cream color palette. It’s not immediately clear which sock Stance used for the collab, but naturally wicking wool is the primary fiber.

The brand describes it with all of our favorite sock words: increased cushioning, arch support, and mesh ventilation for breathability. And Stance uses the upcycled yarn to make the socks.
