If you were expecting a last hurrah for the fifth generation 4Runner before it is replaced for the 2025 model year, you’re likely not going to be excited about the 2024 model.
New 2024 4Runner Colors
The 2024 4Runner is the same machine as the 2023. But, we do get some new colors.
The new exclusive color on the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro for 2024 is “Terra.” Each year Toyota offers a new exclusive TRD Pro color, like 2023’s Solar Octane Orange.
For the first time on a 4Runner the color “Underground” will debut in 2024. This dark gray color debuted on a number of Toyota vehicles in 2023 and will be available on some 2024 Tacomas.
Not Much New Content
For 2024, the 4Runner still gets a 4.0L V6 putting out 278 pound-feet of torque and 270 horsepower. It has the same tech and capabilities as all other fifth-generation 4Runners.
For 2024, the 4Runner does get a few more features as standard, versus optional equipment. These include Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. I know, not exciting, but quality safety features that are great to have.
2025 Toyota 4Runner
There is lots of speculation about the 2025 4Runner, but not much in the way of concrete info just yet. We do expect to see its reveal in 2024, and likely hit dealer lots before the end of 2024. It will be an all-new machine, with different underpinnings, driveline, etc.
What will the sixth-generation 4Runner offer? We’ll have to wait just a bit longer, and just settle for a new color on the last of the fifth-gen SUVs.
