BLACKFIN SUP owners should immediately check their serial numbers to see if their paddleboard may be impacted by a deflation defect.
iROCKER is recalling an unknown number of BLACKFIN paddleboards due to a manufacturing issue, the brand told GearJunkie this week. The issue has to do with separation at the seams, and affects BLACKFIN models manufactured between May and September 2021.
“Ultimately, this can result in deflation of the board and impact user safety,” the brand told us. “We’ve isolated this manufacturing issue to BLACKFIN boards (Model X, XL, and V), and have contacted all affected BLACKFIN purchasers and partners on the replacement process.”
iROCKER also sent a notification to its customers:
“At iROCKER we’re committed to providing customers with high quality paddle boards and a safe experience on the water,” it wrote. “We have recently determined that the seams on certain BLACKFIN paddle boards experienced problems with manufacturing.”
iROCKER added that it’s initiating the recall “out of an abundance of caution.”
BLACKFIN Recall Details
iROCKER said it was first alerted to a potential issue after it received an increased number of reports of seam failures on BLACKFIN paddleboards “over the past few weeks.”
Recalled SUPs include the BLACKFIN Model X, XL, and Model V. The affected serial numbers of the BLACKFIN paddleboard models are as follows:
- IR139020 to IR141685
- IR157500 to IR160165
- IR160500 to IR163165
All affected model numbers start with “IR-TSEBF.” You can find the serial number on the center fin box.
iROCKER recommends that customers with these boards discontinue use of the board immediately.
Affected customers are eligible for a replacement board at no additional cost. That process will begin on iROCKER’s recall website, slated to launch on August 15, 2022.
If you have questions about the recall, you can also call iROCKER at (833) 408-0481.
“If the serial number on your paddle board is not in this listing, you can continue to use your paddleboard,” iROCKER added. For any other concerns, iROCKER recommends going through the brand’s standard warranty process.
