1) 2 Die in Tree Wells on Mt. Bachelor in Same Day

An “unthinkable” tragedy: Two people die in tree well accidents at Oregon’s Mt. Bachelor ski area. Officials called the powder ‘fluffy’ and ‘easy to ski.’ It brought thousands to the ski resort over the weekend. But those conditions also belied a very real danger: tree wells.

8) Chronic Wasting Disease Spreads to Mississippi

Chronic wasting disease is confirmed for the first time in Mississippi, and officials are trying to minimize the spread. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) announced the state’s first confirmed case of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in a whitetail deer in Issaquena County last month.
