Zero’s new e-adventure bike onboards its latest direct drive motor and seeks to transmit confidence on the road and off.
Zero gives the DSR/X a lot of power to get off the line and seeks to help riders feel comfortable once they get rolling. The brand’s newly configured Z-Force 75-10X motor throws down a generous 166 pound-feet of torque, making it Zero’s highest-output motor ever, the company said. Zero also built the DSR with an intentionally upright stance and high clearance to help riders control it on varied terrain.
Riders should also find it to be the opposite of noisy. The gearless direct drivetrain, Zero said, makes the bike hum along at a “whisper.”
Zero DSR/X User Comfort Features
Five standard ride modes and a hand-adjustable rear shock preload setting can help you tailor your ride depending on the circumstances. Zero said the DSR/X is the first electric bike to get Bosch Offroad Motorcycle Stability Control.
The high-tech data monitoring utility measures various dynamics during braking and accelerating. It could promote further control for the rider, especially for anyone less experienced.

Other features that could please beginners include Linked Braking, which detects and helps correct tire slippage during braking. Vehicle Hold is also available. It allows riders to stop on the steep stuff without worrying about the bike rolling away.
Lots of Horses, Heavy Hog
But the main event is the carbon-emissions-free powerplant. When you pin the throttle, 166 pound-feet of torque and 100 horsepower will hit the DSR/X’s fairly piggish 544-pound curb weight. Zero lists top speed at 112 mph, and the 17.3 kWh battery affords 180 miles of city range or 85 miles on the highway at 70 mph (claimed).

CypherIII+, Zero’s do-it-all software for the bike, handles turn-by-turn navigation and battery capacity information but also supports faster charging and even increases battery life, according to the brand. A newly onboarded carbon belt drive seeks to eliminate bend angles and keep debris out of the drivetrain with larger, ported sprockets.
The standard charging time is around 11 hours. But you can shave that down to just an hour by opting for the 6 kWh rapid charger. The DSR/X rides on 190mm travel Showa suspension. The wheelbase is 60 inches, and seat heights from 31.7 inches to 34.1 inches are available.
MSRP: $24,495, with a 5-year, unlimited mileage powerpack warranty from Zero.
