Maine Fly Company’s film ‘Community’ follows a small group of fly fishers through their first get-together since the lockdown.
The people of Maine Fly Company know that they benefitted from the pandemic in ways that many did not. They credit this to both luck and their remarkably tight community.
That community comprises fishing guides and wilderness stewards — people who believe in getting out in nature and being together. Through isolation, we’re told, their bond only grew stronger.
“I hope that people can stop and embrace the positives that came out of [the pandemic] because it pushed a lot of people outside,” says Maine Fly Company founder Jeff Davis.
“It got them out of the malls, it got them out of the airplanes, it got them out of commercial vacations and forced them into everything that’s around us.”
