GogglePal’s “find your friends” feature will help you track your buddies and gives you a directional arrow to lead you to them when you get separated. The company was funded via Kickstarter snd it looks amazing. The in-goggle HUD (head’s up display) attaches to the inside of any pair of ski or snowboarding goggles. In addition to the friend-finder, users can see real-time stats like distance, speed, hang time, rotation, and vertical drop.
In-goggle HUDs have been around for a few years, but if you wanted a virtual dashboard, you’d have to buy a specific pair of goggles, so you don’t have to pick up a brand new pair of goggles to get an in-goggle dashboard.
The coolest part might be the augmented reality games, which let you and a friend race to collect icons that the display shows on the mountain, kind of like a real-life version of Mario Kart (only with more snowboards and fewer explosive turtle shells). I’m definitely curious to see how well this works. Check out the video below:
