Everyone agrees that painters, sculptors, and musicians are artists. Most would also agree that craftsmen, dancers, chefs, fashion designers, and architects are as well. But how far can one extend the definition? Is every skill, sport, or pastime an art if done masterfully enough?

The Faction Collective teamed up with Red Bull Media House for its new feature film, “Abstract” to get to the heart of this concept, and to challenge people with the question: Is skiing art?

Spoiler alert, the answer is a resounding yes. To prove it, Faction and Red Bull rallied their raddest ski athletes to go ride some of the gnarliest lines down huge mountains and shred all over urban areas, all over the world — from Japan to Canada, Italy, Switzerland, and here in the U.S.

Faction’s “Abstract” features a star-studded cast of snow athletes. Alex Hall, Koga Hoshino, Antti Ollila, Mac Forehand, Vasu Sojitra, Micah Evangelista, Sophia Rouches, Brooklyn Bell, and many, many others take to the slopes to show off their artistic expression on the blank canvas of the mountain.
