Cadence Trousers
Made in San Francisco, and built with a bit of Lycra added for stretch, the Trousers from Cadence are a normal jeans design with subtle bike-centric touches.
Our tester liked the extra stretch — “they feel much better on the bike than jeans,” he noted — and the construction, including seat reinforcement, is extra durable. After more than 30 rides, some up to 40 miles long, they still look like new.
At $110, these pants hit a middle ground in price for this review. They are also the only unisex pair, advertised as fitting “most people, men and women.” But they are cut from a skinny-jeans mold, so watch out if your legs or lower trunk have extra girth.
There is a reflective patch on the back. Otherwise the Trousers do not have many made-for-the-bike features. Our tester wished for a water-resistant treatment (like found on the Levi’s Commuter 511) and more reflectivity, but otherwise he loved the Trousers: “They are my favorite everyday bike pants,” he said. “In terms of comfort while riding, these are superior.”
