New Component Group — SRAM’s new CX-1 group is a 1X11 component group is designed for cyclocross riding. It would also make a brilliant selection for adventure or gravel bikes.
I won’t get tired of trying to get you to throw away your front derailleur. After sitting down with the SRAM guys recently, I concluded that CX-1 is a bit more awesome than at first impression.
The troughs of the front rings’ teeth are machined to a knife-edge to better clear mud. Additionally, CX-1’s rear derailleur uses a straight parallelogram movement pattern, instead of the industry standard slant parallelogram design. How? I won’t explain here, but it means that the up and down slapping of your chain won’t naturally oscillate into a side-to-side motion that could impair shifting, or cause your chain to drop.
