Better Tubeless — Stan’s is the leader in tubeless wheel design. They pay attention to the stuff that you don’t understand about your wheels: the exact relationship of the spoke bed, sidewall, the bead seat, and drop channel. Although we can’t guarantee going tubeless will ever be easy, Stan’s is your best bet. We’re not saying there are not other rims out there that work, but we trust Stan’s as one of the best.
Their new Grail and Hugo rims push the tubeless world forward again in the adventure and 29+ worlds, respectively. What is the 29+ world? Check out this story about the 29+ Salsa Mukluk.
Stan’s Hugo is not just a wider rim. It’s the first rim we have seen that creates independent drop channels for each tire bead.
The rim not only makes tubeless setups much easier, but it’s center box channel also reduces pinch flats and bolsters durability by providing a raised center surface which supports and guides the tire’s bead.
We are excited about it. Richard Cunningham of Pinkbike called it “the most important development for the bicycle wheel for the past 100 years.” We’re not sure it’s any more important than even tubeless tires themselves, but what we can agree that the guys at Stan’s No Tubes are sneaky-smart tinkerers.
