Wicked New Frame — Pivot’s new Mach 4 is badass. It’s the leading example of new school XC frame design that continues Chris Cocali’s long line of influential XC bikes that started with his TITUS Racer X.
Pivot brings us the new carbon Mach 4, a 22lb carbon soft tail that moves the genre forward once again.
It is made using top-shelf mandrel construction at the same factory as other top brands. It weighs 5 pounds with the shock and has cable routing for Shimano’s Di2 and new side-swing front derailleur and a dropper post. It has 115mm of travel, and a slackish 68.8-degree head tube with a big forward offset.
Bottom line? It rides plush and fast as hell. With more travel than many XC bikes it gives up very little in acceleration or efficiency. The bike is flat out sick and will be available August, 2014. The frame alone is $2899; an SLX full build is $4499. The top-shelf Di2 build is $8,999. Check out the following page for more about the Black Label wheels on this bike.
