A no-nonsense camp kitchen setup can elevate your outdoor experience. Whether you want a full kitchen at the weekend campsite or as an everyday part of your mobile adventure rig, storing all the right pieces can take up a lot of room.

That’s why Sea to Summit created its Detour Collection of fully capable kitchenware in a compact design. It optimizes space for easier storage on the road and at home.

Several pieces of the Detour cookware collection are collapsible to save room. The smart design of the overall collection means the different kitchen items work well together, like mugs nesting inside one another and companion pots. Even the non-collapsible stainless steel pan has a removable handle for more compact storage.

What distinguishes the Detour Camp Kitchen goods are the stainless steel and high-quality silicone. Unlike flimsier backpacking cookware, the Detour collection offers a more sturdy and durable design. Read on to see what kitchen essentials Sea to Summit offers car campers, overlanders, and anyone else looking for a quality space-saving camp kitchen.

The Materials

Sea to Summit has been making collapsible cups, bowls, and kettles for years. These mostly prioritized lighter weight for backpacking.

The Detour Stainless Steel Camp Kitchen collection is a sturdier build thanks to the stainless steel. Yet, its silicone components still keep weight down. For instance, the drink and cookware use silicone for sturdy, lightweight side walls, nylon glass for temperature-safe handles, and stainless steel for eating and drinking surfaces.

The silicone is sort of the magic ingredient of the collection. Food-grade and heat-resistant, it allows for the cookware items to collapse and be stacked or nested within each other. That’s what makes it good for mobile kitchens that frequently need to pack up and move.

Stainless steel bottoms and lids act as a solid base or eating surface and conduct heat. The Detour cookware is compatible with gas and induction stoves, so it can easily move to the campsite from a mobile kitchen countertop. Just make sure your gas flame doesn’t flare to the outer edge of the cooking surface.

The Detour Stainless Steel Camp Cookware & Kitchenware

The Detour Stainless Steel Camp Kitchen Collection has several individual pieces and sets that combine different camping and overlanding kitchen essentials. Check out these highlights that show the array of options for your camp kitchen.

Detour Stainless Steel One Pot Cook Set (5-Piece)

Hardy and packable, the Detour Stainless Steel One Pot cookset is just right for two diners. The Detour 3L Pot is made of food-safe materials and has dual handles for controlled pours. Rounding out the set are two large bowls and mugs that are collapsible and nest inside the pot.

A three-ply base helps with heat conduction and works on gas and induction stoves. The pot, two large bowls, and two mugs combine for a weight of 2 pounds, 14 ounces.

This 1.8L pot could easily be the workhorse of your camp cookware. Like other Detour cookware, this pot has a partially silicone sidewall that collapses for compact storage. Its three-layer base mixes steel and aluminum for even heat transfer.

The removable handle is Click-Safe, so you can securely hold and pour from the pot. When not in use, the same handle can be reversed to secure the lid (and any nesting tableware) in transport. It weighs 1 pound, 1 ounce.

Detour Stainless Steel Kettle Cookset (3-Piece)

A kettle might not come to mind when you think of camp cookware, but let’s face it: boiling water is one of the most common camp cooking tasks.

The Detour Stainless Steel Kettle has a unique kettle shape that folds down under 3 inches thanks to its silicone sidewalls. Sea to Summit used a heat-resistant glass nylon for the dual handles for safer handling and pouring. Its 1.6L capacity should be enough for hot drinks and instant meals, but this kettle can double as a secondary pot for more robust cooking plans.

The set includes collapsible Detour mugs, which have temperature-resistant silicone sides and a special grip to make them easier to hold, whether you’re holding hot cocoa or iced tea.

A Durable Mobile Kitchen

As stated above, the Detour line is full of practical kitchen essentials, including utensils, dinnerware, and several cookware items.
