Hang this tent above the forest floor and enjoy a “fort” fit for your inner child. But this bad boy can hold your adult girth, up to 500 pounds of it.
The Treepod Camper ($570) is a new suspended tent coming to market in April. I inspected one at the Outdoor Retailer show, crawling around the interior of the hanging abode. It seems relatively tough and comfortable, although definitely niche.
The 25-pound tent won’t be one to carry backpacking, but for backyard hangouts or car camping adventures, it melds a hammock with a ground tent. Inside, the bed seems pretty comfortable and cushy, although I didn’t spend enough time in one to know how it would feel for a long sleep.
Treepod Camper Features
The tent is waterproof and has windows with mesh ventilation. Use it outdoors rain or shine. It sleeps two and has a removable center divider that keeps people from rolling into each other by creating a separate pocket on each side of the tent.
The Treepod Camper hangs from a single point, which could simplify setup compared with some suspended structures that need multiple trees. All it requires is a high and strong point for suspension.
So if sleeping on the ground is now passé, the Treepod Camper is a unique new option that will levitate you and a friend several feet off the forest floor.
