For ultrarunners, Iten, Kenya, is ‘the home of champions.’ When local runners started losing their peak conditioning during COVID-19 lockdowns, Braveheart Runners stepped in.

The Braveheart Runners Foundation offers yearlong scholarship programs to up-and-coming Kenyan runners. The team’s objective is to provide a year of coaching, training, and financial support, leading to the chance to race on Europe’s biggest stages for the sport.

Meet the program’s nine members for 2022 in episode 1 of “Braveheart Runners: When Trail Meets Road.” With help from SCOTT, they’ll soon pursue world competition status. Stay tuned to watch the nine young runners all season.
