Here at GearJunkie, we test a lot of gear. And we’re fortunate to test new, cutting-edge products. Now, we want to give you the chance to win some gear too.
This week, three lucky winners will receive a pair of the AKU Trekker Pro GTX Boots to equip them with footwear for their next trekking adventure.
More on the Prize
The Trekker Pro GTX was made for all-day excursions with varying terrain. According to AKU, the Trekker Pro GTX is an evolution of the brand’s Trekker Lite II model, and the Tengu Lite model inspired its shape.
This boot features waterproof GORE-TEX integrated throughout and an upper made of suede and Air 8000 — which the brand says is “11.5 times more breathable than a conventionally made fabric” — with welded PU film.
The brand designed its Custom Fit Insole, and integrates a Vibram Curcuma sole, for comfort and stability. AKU intends the Trekker Pro GTX for backpacking or taking long hikes in the mountains.
More on the Brand
For over 40 years, AKU’s mission has been to create the highest-quality outdoor footwear available. Based in Montebelluna, Italy — an area vital to the Italian outdoor footwear industry — AKU is dedicated to the pursuit of creating the finest boots and shoes.
The brand sees it as its responsibility to shorten the supply chain. According to AKU, it “concentrates 85% of its production in company-owned facilities in Italy and Romania” to decrease negative impacts on the environment related to carbon emissions created by transport.
AKU also aims to provide transparency to its customers. The brand claims that the sources of 100% of its components, including “raw material and semi-finished parts,” are traceable.
